Immerse yourself in the spirit of

“While in Rome, do as the Romans do”.

Camel safari is the oldest but the best way to explore the beauty of the Thar Desert. We would like to add that the tour to Jaisalmer is incomplete without an evening trip to the desert. While on camel safari, one can easily spot Chinkara (a rare breed of deer), desert peacocks, and local villages unaffected by globalization yet, and a sunset which we believe will leave lasting memories. A treat for photographs and Facebook updates!!Around 7 PM, we begin with our musical program that includes Rajasthani Mujra, folk songs and folk music around a camp fire. It lasts till 9 PM. A delicious dinner follows.

Upon return take breakfast and get ready for the village and desert safari in 4x4 jeeps. Those who are more on adventurous side, jeep safari will suit them the most. In winters, Jeep safari is a thing worth trying.

We will have lunch around 1 PM at our camps and post lunch we will again start our journey in jeeps to Khichan bird sanctuary.

Khichan Bird Sanctuary is located at a distance of 90 kms from registan desert safari camps in the village of Khichan. This natural sanctuary serves as home to three types of birds called Kurjan, Karkara and Kunch that migrate from South West Europe, Black Sea region, Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, North and South Africa and Mongolia. These birds can be seen in large numbers at this bird sanctuary between October and March as they migrate to India during this time to avoid the cold winters of Europe. Khichan Bird Sanctuary is popular worldwide as the Demoiselle Crane village.

A large number of these birds visit India every year, with about four to six thousand coming to the bird sanctuary at Khichan. Kurjan, weighing 4 to 6 kg and standing about three feet tall, draws its local dialect name from a typical ‘kur-kur’ sound that it makes. The bird is capable of flying long distances at speeds varying from 30 to 55 km per hour. These Kurjans have typical features which make their appearance quite attractive. Their congregation makes for unique experience and sets most cameras rolling. We get back to our camps around 8 PM. Get refreshed and look out for Rajasthani dishes waiting outside for you to be served. Enjoy campfire under the starry sky.
